The great, old far-Downeast restaurant Helen’s of Machias, Maine (blueberry pie! fresh seafood!) burned down last July. The owners have been rebuilding a new Helen’s, which will be smaller and will seat fewer people. Opening is planned for mid-April. You can see the construction progress in this video.

Now that is blueberry pie – no cornstarch or whatever fillers in this pie!! Looks delicious!!
Helen’s blueberry pies are the best we’ve ever had. They use local berries, real whipped cream, and in this particular version, uncooked fruit! They also make a cooked version.
In season, they also make a strawberry version that is just as good!
