Arnold’s Country Kitchen of Nashville, the popular meat-and-three cafeteria open for lunch only, Monday through Friday, will be undergoing two major changes in the near future. First of all, sometime next month, a second location will open in the Green Hills section of Nashville, at 2209 Abbott Martin Road (in a former location of Sylvan Park Restaurant, another Nashville favorite of ours). They plan to start off with table service, with the same menu as the downtown cafeteria. They’re leaving open the possibility of later switching to cafeteria service.

Beginning sometime in the next few months, the second change will begin. The original Arnold’s will close for a renovation and expansion, which is expected to take about two months. Nice to know the Green Hills Arnold’s will be there as a backup!

Arnold’s Country Kitchen of Nashville, TN is one of the best places we know of for enjoying a classic meat-and-three lunch of things like fried catfish, chicken and dumplings, and country-fried steak, sided by a panoply of soulful southern vegetables like turnip greens, white beans, and macaroni and cheese (yes, in meat-and-three land, mac and cheese is a vegetable!). Finish off with a wedge of sweet chess pie or banana pudding and you’ll be wearing a smile the rest of the day.
