Nashville Hot Chicken Face-Off

Bill Addison, writing for Eater, does a taste comparison between two Nashville hot chicken giants: the possible inventor, Prince’s Hot Chicken and the 2012 newcomer, Hattie B’s. He says Prince’s is explosively hot but the sides aren’t so hot. Hattie B’s chicken heat is scaled back somewhat, and it’s also a lot drippier. The sides are worth eating, too. Which does he prefer? If all Ellen Margulies had touted in her Nashville Ledger story about where to take Nashville visitors was the Biscuit Love Truck, we’d have been grateful. How about fresh biscuits filled with Nashville hot chicken, local honey, and house-made pickles?! Or the Wash Park: Bear Creek Farm beef burger topped with pimento cheese and Benton’s bacon jam? Or the seasonal Nathaniel: a griddled biscuit topped with buttermilk cheese and local peaches and honey? Yes, get us to the Biscuit Love Truck! One other recommendation that stood out was Hattie B’s, a hot chicken purveyor that opened two years ago and has become hotter’n a whorehouse on nickel night. Continue reading

Nashville Hot Chicken Coming to NYC

Have you ever been to Nashville and sampled the explosively good hot chicken to be found in the Music City? If you’re anything like us, you’ve been left, like an addict, with a permanent yearning for the stuff. Well, New York City, your hot chicken connection will be coming to the rescue, hopefully in spring of next year. That’s when Carla Hall hopes to open her Nashville-themed restaurant. Besides the hot chicken, Carla wants to feature a selection from the vast roster of Southern sides that makes dining in the region so memorable. Ms. Hall began a Kickstarter campaign this week, if you’d like to get in on the action.
