Seed spittin’ and watermelon eatin’ contests: sounds like a watermelon festival! Pageland, South Carolina, the Watermelon Capital of the World, just over the border from North Carolina, is where all the fun will happen on Friday and Saturday, July 17th and 18th.
There’ll be rodeos Friday and Saturday nights. Other activities include rides, magic, a 5K run, a car show, talent contest, street party, and fireworks. Lots of live music, too. Of course, there will be plenty of arts and crafts and food vendors. And don’t forget the big Festival Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The watermelon contests happen at 2 p.m. Saturday. See the festival website for all the details.
